Tiger Dining speaks on future of ABP after Panera buy out

No changes will come to the University’s beloved Au Bon Pain after the company was bought by Panera.

Au Bon Pain was originally owned by the bakery chain Panera, but they sold the smaller brand to the Saint Louis Bread Company 18 years ago. This month, Panera bought back the company.

Tiger Dining spoke about the future of the student spot to clarify any confusion about possible changes to the dining option.

“We haven’t received any word of any changes happening to Au Bon Pain here on campus,” a spokesperson from Tiger Dining said. “While ABP was recently purchased by Panera, it could take a while before any changes are implemented to individual ABP locations.”

Students are constantly seen pooling in and out of the small café-bakery on the bottom floor of the Student Center, and it is safe to say nothing will happen to the dining location for the time being.

“We don’t anticipate any changes to ABP for spring 2018,” Tiger Dining said.
