Heron named SEC Co-Player of the Week

For the second time this season, Auburn sophomore Mustapha Heron earned SEC honors.

Heron was named SEC Co-Player of the Week following his performances in Auburn’s blowout victories over Missouri and LSU last week. He averaged 17.5 points and 10 rebounds in the two wins.

Heron notched the fifth double-double of his career in Auburn’s 91-73 victory over Missouri on Tuesday, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

On Saturday, Heron set Auburn Arena on fire as he scored 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting in the first five minutes of the game.

Heron earned the accolade along with Arkansas’ Daryl Macon, who led the Razorbacks to a pair of wins while averaging 23.5 points in the victories.

Heron is averaging 15.3 points per game this season to help lead Auburn to the top of the SEC this season. The former five-star also averages 5.6 rebounds per game and is tied for the team lead with 28 steals.

Heron and the Tigers will travel to Ole Miss on Tuesday to take on the Rebels. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CST on the SEC Network.
