Harper named to SEC Community Service team

The sophomore guard is third in the conference in assists with a 5.4 average while scoring 13.8 points per game

Jared Harper has been named to the Southeastern Conference community service team, the league announced Thursday, for his local involvement.

Harper worked in the offseason with his teammates and Homes for our Troops to build a home for a wounded Auburn veteran while also participating with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lee County.

In addition, the Mableton, Georgia, native has worked with Habitat for Humanity, the Jason Dufner Charitable Foundation and mentored at Camp Good Grief, a camp offered to children who have recently lost immediate family to cancer.

He also spent time in Atlanta volunteering to feed children and volunteered to organize and wrap gifts with a local charity at Christmas.'

The sophomore guard is third in the conference in assists with a 5.4 average while scoring 13.8 points per game. Auburn is currently 24-6 while tied for the conference lead, and the Tigers have an opportunity at their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2003.

Auburn will play South Carolina on Saturday for its first regular season-championship since 1999.
