The shrieks and shrills from an SEC home team's fans on Saturdays send chills down any away team's spines. Normally.
In the case of the Auburn and Texas A&M series, the away team has won every single game since A&M joined the SEC in 2012.
The other element that adds to the uniqueness of this series is the fact that Gus Malzahn is currently 7-0 following the bye week. Something has to give.
The games between the Aggies and Tigers have been quite peculiar in this six-game span. 2012 saw Johhny Manziel and the Aggies run roughshod over Auburn to the tune of 63 points, while the 2013 game saw the Tigers upset the Aggies en route to a BCS Championship appearance against current Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher's Florida State Seminoles.
"I don't (have an explanation), but we're looking forward to changing that," Davis said of the series. "Obviously, that's not something you want to do is lose at home, so hopefully, we can do everything in our power to change that, as well."
The success for road teams is even more surprising when considering the team's respective home field advantages. During ESPN's weekly poll of all 128 college coaches, which 99 responded to, 9 percent voted for Texas A&M and 3 percent voted for Auburn as the toughest places to play on the road.
These numbers may seem small, but Texas A&M was the second-highest percentage only behind LSU with 21 percent. Auburn's 3 percent is still higher than fellow Power 5 schools like Penn State and Florida.
Neither Auburn or Texas A&M have looked great on the road this season, with A&M at 1-2 and Auburn at 1-1 in the SEC on the road. Both teams have lost to Mississippi State on the road. A&M's other loss was to Alabama.
Auburn is going to need for Jordan-Hare to be a house of horrors on Saturday as a loss would likely pin Auburn for a 6-6 fate in the regular season.
The late October or early November games may be a factor in the oddities that have occurred in this series. Out of the six games in the series so far, five out of the six have been played in late October or early November.
Maybe a little Halloween trickery against the home team is what's to blame.
Auburn takes on No. 20 Texas A&M 11:00 a.m. CST (ESPN) at Jordan-Hare.
