Auburn women's basketball is usually known for its defensive, press-focused gameplans under coach Terri Williams-Flournoy. This season, however, the Tigers are high-flying on both ends of the court.

That offensive onslaught kept up Sunday afternoon as Auburn (6-1) broke the school record for 3-pointers made with 13 in its 95-79 win over Oklahoma inside Auburn Arena.

The Tigers came out drilling threes with Daisa Alexander, Emari Jones, Robyn Benton and Brooke Moore draining multiple threes. The players had no idea that they had broken the record until the excitement of the game revved down.

“Honestly, our 3-point shooters — Janiah, Dasia, Robyn and Brooke — stay after practice every day to practice their shots," Williams-Flournoy said. "If you’re working on it, it’ll work, and it paid off today."

The Tigers had multiple players in double-digit scoring. Alexander led the charge with 19 points on 22 shots. Sophomore Unique Thompson tallied her fifth double-double of the season. She locked down the boards with 17 rebounds and put up 12 points while she was at it.

The Tigers started off the game down seven at the end of the first quarter. Auburn was able to flip the script and outscore Oklahoma by 21 points in the second quarter.

“We played defense, it was just defense," Williams-Flournoy said. "We did none of that in the first quarter, we made sure to lock the three-point line down. Oklahoma had no threes in the second quarter."

“It took me the whole first half of the game to get used to the pace but after that I was good,” Thompson said.

The pace didn't concern Williams-Flournoy, who said the team was in great shape to keep up after a solid week of practice.

Now with multiple 90-point games this season, the Tigers have been establishing themselves as an offensively strong team.

“We knew this year that we were going to be able to put five people on the floor that can score and that takes away the ability to double team our players,” Williams-Flournoy said.

Moore played in her second game tonight, and Coach Flo was optimistic about Moore's ability at the point position, saying she’s is making a solid backup for starter Janiah McKay. Moore notched six points in the win.

With six games left in their non-conference schedule, the Tigers next look to St. Joseph's University (3-5) on the road Thursday at 6 p.m. CST.
