Tournament Tracker: Keeping tabs on Auburn basketball's March Madness projections

Welcome to The Plainsman's March Madness Bracketology tracker. 

Starting every Monday for both men's and women's basketball, with a follow up on Friday for the men, readers can see where ESPN's Bracketology experts (Joe Lunardi for men, Charlie Creme for women) have the Auburn Tigers projected in the NCAA tournament. 

Each week, this post will be updated with the current week's rankings along with where the other SEC teams are ranked. Also, a quick look at who Auburn is playing that week. 

Men's Bracketology  

MARCH 11 - Auburn pulled off the dramatic 84-80 win over No.8 Tennessee on the final day of the regular season and now is a 5-seed for the SEC tournament. 

So the question now is, where do the Tigers sit in Monday's edition of Bracketology? 

Auburn (22-9, 11-7 in the SEC) has moved up following the weekend win over Tennessee and now is a 5-seed in the latest Bracketology. Auburn would face off against the winner of the 12-seed play-in game between Clemson and TCU. 

The SEC has seven teams projected in the latest Bracketology. 

LSU moves up to a 2-seed, Kentucky moves up to a  1-seed, Mississippi State is a 6-seed, Ole Miss moves up to a 9-seed, Tennessee falls to a 2-seed and Florida holds firm as an 11-seed.

Now Auburn has to get ready for the SEC tournament, where the Tigers will face off against the winner of Missouri and Georgia in the second round of the tournament. 

MARCH 8 - Auburn has their final game of the regular season on Saturday at home against No.5 Tennessee. 

Auburn (21-9, 10-7 in the SEC) is coming off their 66-60 win on the road against Alabama and will look to finish the regular season with a win against Tennessee before the SEC tournament begins. 

Auburn holds firm as a 6-seed in Friday's Bracketology and would play 11-seed Ohio State (18-12, 8-10 in the Big Ten) in the first round. 

The SEC has eight teams projected in the updated Bracketology. 

LSU is a 3-seed, Kentucky falls to a 2-seed, Mississippi State is a 6-seed, Ole Miss moves up to a 10-seed, Alabama is a co-12-seed with Clemson, Tennessee moves up to a 1-seed and Florida falls to an 11-seed.

MARCH 6 - As we inch closer to the end of the regular season and the start of conference tournaments, more and more Bracketology updates will be coming out. 

Following their dramatic second-half comeback 66-60 win against Alabama, Auburn (21-9, 10-7 in the SEC) finds themselves moving up in the Bracketology. 

Auburn moves up to a 6-seed and would play 13-seed Minnesota (19-11, 9-10 in the Big Ten) in the first round.

The SEC has eight teams projected in the updated Bracketology. 

LSU moves up to a 3-seed, Kentucky holds firm as a 1-seed, Mississippi State is a 6-seed, Ole Miss falls to an 11-seed, Alabama is a co-12-seed with TCU, Tennessee is a 2-seed and Florida holds firm as a 9-seed.

Auburn still has a chance to get the 4-seed double-bye in the SEC tournament although it will need some help from Georgia who takes on currently the only other team in the SEC who is 10-7 in South Carolina. 

Auburn now heads home to host No. 5 Tennessee on Saturday. 

MARCH 4 - Auburn went 2-0 this week with wins against Georgia on the road and Mississippi State at home.

Auburn (20-9, 9-7 in the SEC) now has two games left in the regular season. They travel to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama on Tuesday and then head home to take on No. 7 Tennessee on Saturday. 

In the Monday edition of Bracketology, Auburn is projected as a 7-seed and would play 10-seed NC State (20-9, 8-8 in the ACC) in the first round.

The SEC has eight teams projected in this Monday's edition of Bracketology.  

LSU is a 4-seed, Kentucky holds firm as a 1-seed, Mississippi State is a 6-seed, Ole Miss falls to a 10-seed, Alabama is an 11-seed, Tennessee is a 2-seed and Florida falls to a 9-seed. 

Auburn (20-9, 9-7 in the SEC) travels to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama (17-12, 8-8 in the SEC) on Tuesday at 8 p.m. CST. 

MARCH 1 - March is finally here which means every game matters just a bit more from here on out and SEC teams will be looking to put their best foot forward with 3 regular season games remaining. 

Auburn started the week off with a 78-75 over Georgia on the road and heads home to take on Mississippi State on Saturday.

In the Friday edition of Bracketology, Auburn is projected as an 8-seed and would play 9-seed Texas in the first round. 

The SEC has eight teams projected in the Friday edition of Bracketology. 

Florida moves up to an 8-seed, LSU is a 4-seed, Kentucky holds firm as a 1-seed, Tennessee is a 2-seed, Ole Miss is a 9-seed, Alabama is an 11-seed and Mississippi State is a 6-seed.  

Auburn (19-9, 8-7 in the SEC) hosts Mississippi State (21-7, 9-6 in the SEC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. CST.  

FEBRUARY 26 - Auburn went 1-1 last week starting with a 79-56 win at home against Arkansas and then traveled to Lexington and suffered an 80-53 loss to No.4 Kentucky. 

In the Monday edition of Bracketology, Auburn is listed as an 8-seed and would play 9-seed Texas in the first round. 

The SEC has eight teams projected in the Monday edition of Bracketology.

Florida moves up to a 9-seed, LSU is a 4-seed, Kentucky takes over as a 1-seed, Alabama moves up to an 11-seed, Tennessee falls to a 2-seed, Ole Miss falls to a 9-seed and Mississippi State is a 6-seed. 

Auburn hosts Mississippi State (20-7, 8-6 in the SEC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. CST.  

FEBRUARY 22 - Auburn is currently 1-0 on the week following their 79-56 win over Arkansas. Now the Tigers will face a tough task on the road when they play No. 4 Kentucky on Saturday. 

In the Friday edition of Bracketology, Auburn after beating Arkansas stays as an 8-seed and would play 9-seed Ohio State. 

The SEC has eight teams in the Friday Bracketology. 

LSU is a 4-seed, Florida moves up to a 10-seed,  Ole Miss is an 8-seed, Alabama and Minnesota are co-12-seeds, Kentucky is a 2-seed, Tennessee is a 1-seed and Mississippi State moves up to a 6-seed. 

Auburn (18-8, 7-6 in the SEC) travels to Lexington to take on fourth-ranked Kentucky (22-4, 11-2 in the SEC) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CST on CBS. 

FEBRUARY 19 - Like a lot of times this season, Auburn comes into the week having gone 1-1 in the SEC the week prior. Auburn started last week by losing to Ole Miss 60-55 but rebounded to beat Vanderbilt 64-53. 

In the Monday edition of Bracketology, Auburn moves up to an 8-seed and would play 9-seed Ohio State in the first round. 

The SEC has eight teams projected in the Monday edition of Bracketology. 

LSU is a 4-seed, Florida checks in as a co-12-seed with Temple, Mississippi State is a 7-seed, Ole Miss holds firm as 8-seed, Kentucky is a 2-seed, Tennessee holds firm as a 1-seed and Alabama checks in as a co-12-seed with Arizona State. 

Auburn (17-8, 6-6 in the SEC) hosts Arkansas (14-11, 5-7 in the SEC) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. CST. The Tigers then travel to Lexington to take on the No.4 Kentucky Wildcats (21-4, 10-2 in the SEC) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. CST. 

FEBRUARY 15 - Auburn stumbled out of the gate to start the week as the Tigers lost to Ole Miss at home, 60-55.  Auburn now sits at 16-8 and 5-6 in the SEC and now must head to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt on Saturday. 

In the Friday edition of Bracketology, Auburn following the loss to Ole Miss drops to a 9-seed and would play 8-seed Baylor in the first round. 

The SEC has seven teams projected in the Friday edition of Bracketology. 

LSU is a 4-seed, Ole Miss is an 8-seed, Alabama checks in as a 10-seed, Mississippi State is a 7-seed, Kentucky is a 2-seed and Tennessee holds firm as a 1-seed. 

Like previously mentioned, Auburn (16-8, 5-6 in the SEC) travel to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (9-15, 0-11 in the SEC) on Saturday at 11 a.m. CST. 

Auburn faces a tough test on the road as the Tigers have struggled in recent years against the Commodores when they play in Nashville; Auburn lost to Vanderbilt in 2017 to the tune of 80-61 when they traveled to the Music City. 

FEBRUARY 12 - Auburn hosted Florida and bested the Gators 76-62, then traveled to Baton Rouge to take on No. 19 LSU, coming up short, 83-78. 

In the weekly ESPN March Madness Bracketology, Auburn is still projected as a 7-seed and would play 10-seed Wofford in the first round. 

Auburn is one of seven teams from the SEC projected in this week's bracketology. 

LSU moves up to a 4-seed, Alabama checks in as a 10-seed, Mississippi State is a 7-seed, Tennessee holds firm as a  1-seed, Ole Miss is an 8-seed and Kentucky is a 2-seed. 

Auburn (16-7, 5-5 in the SEC) has two games this week. The Tigers host Ole Miss (16-7, 6-4 in the SEC) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. CST and then travel to Nashville to take on Vanderbilt (9-14, 0-10 in the SEC) on Saturday at 11 a.m. CST.   

FEBRUARY 5 - Auburn got two SEC wins last week, including a blowout win over in-state rival Alabama and a 34-point win over Missouri.

The wins helped Auburn keep itself in the hunt for a better spot in the currently crowded SEC standings.   

In ESPN's weekly March Madness Bracketology, Auburn is still a 7-seed and would play 10-seed Oklahoma in the first round. The SEC has eight teams projected in this week's bracket.

LSU goes in as a 5-seed, Kentucky is a 2-seed, Florida and VCU go in as co-12 seeds, Alabama and St.John's are co-11 seeds, Ole Miss surprisingly moves up to an 8-seed, Mississippi State is a 6-seed and Tennessee checks in as a 1-seed. 

Auburn (15-6, 4-4 in SEC) has two games this week: They play host to Florida (12-9, 4-4 in SEC) on Tuesday at 8 p.m. CST, then the Tigers head to Baton Rouge to take on No.21 LSU (17-4, 7-1 in SEC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. CST. 

FEBRUARY 1 -  Auburn started its week off on the right foot as the Tigers won big against Missouri. Auburn improved to 14-6 and 3-4 in the SEC. 

Auburn will be tested on Saturday at home against an upstart Alabama team who just upset No.22 Mississippi State. 

In the Friday edition of Bracketology, Auburn is one of eight SEC teams projected in the NCAA tournament. Auburn stays as a 7-seed which is where they were projected on Monday. 

Currently, Auburn would be in the Midwest region and would play 10-seed UCF in the first round of the NCAA tournament.  

The SEC has a total of eight teams in this Friday's bracketology. 

LSU is a 5-seed, Kentucky is a 2-seed, Ole Miss checks in as a 9-seed, Florida sneaks in tied for an 11-seed with Seton Hall, Mississippi State is a 6-seed, Tennessee holds firm as a 1-seed, Auburn is a 7-seed and Alabama moves up to an 11-seed. 

Like previously mentioned, the Tigers (14-6, 3-4 in SEC) play host to Alabama (13-7, 4-3 in SEC) this Saturday at 7 p.m. CST on ESPN2. 

Looking ahead to next week, Auburn hosts Florida on Tuesday and then heads to Baton Rouge to take on No. 19 LSU next Saturday. 

JANUARY 30 - The Auburn men's basketball team has been tested as of late, dropping its last three games to No. 8 Kentucky, South Carolina and No. 22 Mississippi State. 

Monday's bracket, Auburn (13-6, 2-4 in the SEC) is ranked as 7-seed in the Midwest Region and would play Indiana, which is listed as a 10-seed in the first round.   

Auburn is one of seven SEC teams listed in the March Madness bracket. Ole Miss clocks in at a 9-seed, Kentucky is a 2-seed, Alabama and Seton Hall are listed as co-12-seeds, LSU and Mississippi State are 5 and 6 seeds respectively, and Tennessee is a 1-seed.  

Auburn has two games this week and will look to get back on track in these two games. The first of which will impact Friday's bracket as the Tigers take on Missouri (10-8, 1-5 in the SEC) at home Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. CST on the SEC Network. 

The second game is on Saturday as the Tigers take on Alabama (13-7, 4-3 in SEC) in the basketball Iron Bowl at 7 p.m. CST on ESPN2.    

Women's Bracketology

MARCH 11 - Auburn came up short in the SEC tournament, losing to Texas A&M 64-62 in the quarterfinals. 

In Monday's edition of Bracketology, Auburn comes in as a 10-seed and would play 7-seed Texas (23-9, 12-6 in the Big 12) in the first round of the tournament. 

Auburn is one of seven teams in the SEC projected in the Bracketology this week.

Kentucky is a 5-seed, Mississippi State moves up to a 1-seed, South Carolina falls to a 4-seed, Texas A&M is a 4-seed, Missouri falls to a 6-seed and Tennessee is an 11-seed.

Now that the SEC tournament has wrapped up, Auburn and the rest of the SEC will be waiting until the selection show on March 18th at 6 p.m. CST on ESPN. 

MARCH 8 - Auburn will look to continue their success in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament tonight against Texas A&M. Auburn won last night 53-52 against Alabama in the second round of the SEC tournament. 

In the Friday edition of Bracketology, Auburn comes in as a 10-seed and would play 7-seed UCLA (19-11, 12-6 in the Pac-12) in the first round. 

Auburn is one of seven teams in the SEC projected in the Bracketology this week. 

Kentucky is a 5-seed, Mississippi State is a 2-seed, South Carolina moves up to a 3-seed, Texas A&M is a 4-seed, Missouri is a 5-seed and Tennessee is an 11-seed.

Auburn plays Texas A&M tonight in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament. 

MARCH 4 - Auburn had their final game of the regular season this week, a 56-46 win over LSU on Sunday. 

In the Monday edition of Bracketology, Auburn comes in as a 10-seed and would play 7-seed Texas (21-8, 11-6 in the Big12) in the first round. 

Auburn is one of seven teams in the SEC projected in the bracketology this week. 

Kentucky is a 5-seed, Mississippi State is a 2-seed, South Carolina is a 4-seed, Texas A&M moves up to a 4-seed, Missouri moves up to a 5-seed and Tennessee falls to an 11-seed. 

Auburn now will play in the SEC tournament. They are going in as a 6-seed and will play the winner of Alabama and Vanderbilt on Thursday, March 7th. 

FEBRUARY 26 - Auburn only had one game this week, a 58-54 win over Missouri on Sunday at home. 

In the Monday edition of Bracketology, Auburn comes in as a 10-seed and would play 7-seed North Carolina (17-12, 8-7 in the ACC) in the first round. 

Auburn is one of eight teams in the SEC projected in the bracketology this week. 

South Carolina is a 4-seed, LSU falls to an 11-seed, Tennessee is a 9-seed, Mississippi State is a 2-seed, Kentucky is a 5-seed, Texas A&M is a 5-seed and Missouri holds firm as a 6-seed. 

Auburn has their final two regular season games this week before the SEC tournament. Auburn (20-7, 8-6 in the SEC) host No.14 South Carolina (20-7, 12-2 in the SEC) on Thursday at 6 p.m. CST. The Tigers then wrap up the regular season on Sunday at 3 p.m. CST by traveling to Baton Rouge to take on LSU (16-10, 7-7 in the SEC). 

FEBRUARY 19 - Auburn lost their first game of last week to Tennessee 73-62 on the road, then came back home and beat Alabama 77-38 on Sunday afternoon. 

Last week was Auburn's first time in the bracketology since the tournament tracker began and Auburn continued it this week. 

Auburn (19-7, 7-6 in the SEC) following the 1-1 week, falls to an 11-seed and would play 6-seed South Dakota (23-3, 11-1 in Summit). 

Auburn is one of eight teams in the SEC to be projected in bracketology this week. 

South Carolina is a 4-seed, Tennessee checks in as a 9-seed, Mississippi State is a 2-seed, Kentucky checks in as a 5-seed, LSU is a 10-seed, Texas A&M is a 5-seed and Missouri is a 6-seed.

Auburn has one game this week, and the Tigers host Missouri (19-8, 8-5 in the SEC) on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. CST. 


FEBRUARY 12 - Auburn lost its first of last week to No. 19 Kentucky 78-68 at home, then traveled to Arkansas on Sunday afternoon and won 75-72. 

For the first time since the tournament tracker has started, the Tigers are ranked in ESPN's weekly bracketology. 

Auburn (18-6, 6-5 in SEC) gets in as a 9-seed and would play 8-seed South Dakota (22-3, 10-1 in Summit) or another team from the Summit League.  

Auburn is one of six teams in the SEC to be projected in the bracketology this week. 

Mississippi State is a 2-seed, LSU checks in as a 12-seed, Kentucky falls to a 6-seed, Texas A&M falls to a 5-seed and Missouri holds firm as 7-seed.

Auburn has two games this week. The Tigers head to Knoxville to take on Tennessee (15-8, 4-6 in the SEC) on Thursday at 6 p.m. CST and the Tigers host Alabama (11-12, 3-7 in the SEC) on Sunday at 3 p.m. CST.  

FEBRUARY 5 - Auburn picked up two crucial wins in the competitive SEC last week. Auburn beat Ole Miss on the road last Thursday and then beat Georgia in an overtime thriller Sunday. 

The Auburn women (17-5, 5-4 in SEC) are back on track and are currently on a two-game win streak. 

In ESPN's weekly Women's March Madness Bracketology, Auburn is still listed as on the bubble but has gained ground on their SEC competition. 

The SEC has a total of six teams in the bracket this week. Arkansas who was an 11-seed last week dropped out entirely in this week's bracketology. 

Texas A&M is a 4-seed, Missouri is a 7-seed, Kentucky stays stable as a 5-seed, South Carolina checks in as a 4-seed, Tennessee comes in as a 11-seed, and Mississippi State leads the pack as a 2-seed. 

Auburn has two games this week: The Tigers play host to No. 19 Kentucky (18-5, 5-4 in SEC) at home on Thursday and then travel to take on Arkansas (16-7, 5-4 in SEC) on Sunday.  

JANUARY 30 - Last week, Auburn women's Basketball lost a close game to No. 24 Texas A&M at home, then traveled to Mississippi to take on No. 25 Missouri and lost another close game. 

Auburn has now lost three of its four most recent games and sits at 15-5, 3-4 in the SEC.

Auburn is currently on the bubble and will need to gain ground against its fellow SEC teams.  Seven SEC teams are now in the bracket. 

Kentucky and Texas A&M are 5 seeds, Mississippi State clocks in as a 2-seed, Tennessee and Arkansas sneak in as 11 seeds, Missouri is a 7-seed and South Carolina is a 4. 

Auburn women's Basketball has one game this week on Thursday — a must-win against Ole Miss (8-13, 2-5 in the SEC) in Oxford at 7 p.m. CST on SEC Network Plus.
