Auburn sophomore forward Unique Thompson has been named SEC Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

In a pair of wins over Ole Miss and Georgia last week, Thompson averaged 17.0 points and 10.5 rebounds. In the win over Ole Miss, she recorded her ninth double-double of the season and the 16th of her two-year career on The Plains.

In Sunday's overtime thriller against Georgia, Thompson recorded seven points and five boards in the fourth quarter and overtime to help the Tigers a 13-point fourth quarter deficit and claim their first SEC home win of the season.

A native of Theodore, Alabama, Thompson is fourth Tiger to be recognized with a weekly award from the SEC this season. Senior point guard Janiah McKay has been Player of the Week in early December while freshmen Robyn Benton and Brooke Moore have earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season.

In Tom Creme's current ESPN women's basketball bracketology, Auburn sits on the bubble as one of the first four out.

Auburn returns to Auburn Arena on Thursday to host No. 19 Kentucky at 6 p.m. CST. The matchup is Auburn's fourth at home against a ranked SEC foe this season.
