AMC CLASSIC Tiger 13 movie theater in Opelika, along with 250 other AMC locations, will play the 2018 movie "Black Panther" for free from Friday to Feb. 7 with show times at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

"Black Panther" was distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Disney recently donated $1.5 million to the United Negro College Fund for a new corporate scholars program that will offer scholarships to outstanding African-American students.

UNCF typically works to accommodate college-bound low-income African-American students who are first in their families to attend college. More than half of these students come from families with yearly incomes of less than $30,000.

Due to their recent donation, the Tiger 13 team said it appears that Disney joined with AMC to make the decision to show "Black Panther" for free in honor of Black History Month.

Though, Tiger 13 is playing the movie because of the corporate decision, the Opelika theater is proud to play the movie and supports the decision to allow "Black Panther" to return to the big screen for free for a week.

"Black Panther" is nominated for a number of Academy and Golden Globe awards.

The Tiger 13 said this is a wonderful opportunity for those who did not get to see "Black Panther" when it came out one year ago to go and see it finally and for free, too.

To attend a free showing of "Black Panther," people can go to the movie theater’s website and search for showtimes or can go the theater and ask for a free ticket to the movie.
