Auburn took down two on the second day of the War Eagle Challenge.

Mickey Dean's squad improved to 19-4 on the season after defeating Radford 5-2 and Mercer 10-2 on Friday.

Auburn was down 2-0 early in its first game of the doubleheader against Radford, but the Tigers held the Highlanders scoreless for the remainder of the game. Ashlee Swindle improved her record to 4-2 after a seven-inning bout with three strikeouts and six allowed hits.

“I thought we were sluggish going in,” Dean said. “We got it together and finished it out.”

Auburn was down early again in its second game against Mercer, but relied on defense to keep the Bears off the board after the first two innings. Lexie Handley finished with eight strikeouts through five innings. Chardonnay Harris took over for Handley in the top of the sixth and finished with one strikeout and no hits allowed.

“It’s great playing behind great pitching,” Tannon Snow said. “That always makes everything better.”

Aspyn Godwin and Makenna Dowell both tallied their first career triples while Tannon Snow and Alyssa Rivera both added home runs.

Casey McCrackin highlighted the offensive showing by reaching 100 career hits and joined Rivera and Kendall Veach as the only active Tigers to reach the mark.

Auburn continues the War Eagle Challenge on Saturday with a doubleheader starting against Louisville at 2 p.m. followed with Michigan State at 4:30 p.m. CST.
