The DEA arrested an Opelika psychiatrist on Thursday on allegations of unlawful distribution of controlled substances.
James Edwards is in custody of the U.S. Marshals and will have an initial appearance in court this afternoon to face multiple federal drug charges, a spokesperson for the U.S. attorney's office in Montgomery told The Plainsman.
The DEA conducted searches of Edwards' offices in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Opelika on Thursday morning.
Little information is available at this time due to Department of Justice standard operating procedure.
