Offense observations:
- Offense was running hurry-up drills in sets, three or four plays down the field from midfield and then restarting with different team
- RB D.J Williams in orange (non-contact) jersey but was still going through some drills. TE Luke Deal also in orange
- LT Prince Tega was wearing a brace on his left knee but was still going through drills with the first-team offense
- WR Eli Stove had a wrap on his right leg but still was going through drills
- WR Will Hastings, back from ACL injury, looked healthy and was showing no rust in drills, routes

Notes:
- Nix looked sharper and more consistent throughout the practice, and it took Gatewood a few drills to get into the swing of things before he settled down and started making accurate throws. QBs were throwing screens, short out routes and crossing routes, and finished with corner routes to sideline
- Youngstown St. grad transfer Zach Farrar (WR) looked like he has the body and skill to come in and make an immediate impact. He looked quicker than I had expected, for his size, and has big hands as well as a big frame
- Arizona St. grad transfer Jay Jay Wilson (TE/HB) looked like the most dynamic and most athletic H-back out of the first three getting snaps, however I still fully expect Shenker to start out year with last years’ experience until Wilson learns more of the system.
Defense observations:
- DT Coynis Miller and DB Jordyn Peters were both in orange jerseys but went through drills. DT Daquan Newkirk wasn’t dressed out.
- Smoke Monday was used occasionally in different packages at first-team cornerback, with Malcolm Askew filling in for him at safety. Jordyn Peters, who is still recovering from foot injury, didn’t look quite at full speed but looked like he was fine and is progressing. He shouldn’t be in orange much longer.
- Third team DL is Derrick Hall, Peyton Nance, Trenton Townsend, and Colby Wooden
