Crown of Comedy becomes first comedy club in Auburn, Ala.

A new comedy club is coming to Auburn, and owners Fagen and Chris O'Neal are ready to bring on the jokes and laughs.

"I couldn't be more excited to bring a fresh comedy scene to Auburn," Fagen said.

The club, named Crown of Comedy, will be located in the Tiger Crossing Shopping Center near the Winn-Dixie on South College Street. Fagen said they're expecting to open in late October or early November.

"We're just excited to see the Auburn community come out and enjoy themselves," Fagen said. "We're expecting to have some bigger, larger, well-known comedians when we open."

Fagen can't release the comedians that are expected to visit Crown of Comedy yet, but she said those announcements will be made soon.

"We want a good atmosphere, and we want to aim high with this place," she said.

The Illinois native has lived in Auburn since 1996, and she said traveling the country made her realize that the loveliest village needed to revamp its comedy scene.

Fagen said she runs a staffing company and that she's previously worked in real-estate.

Crown of Comedy will feature a bar and will serve food, according to Fagen. She added that the club will host karaoke nights and spoken word shows. The goal of the new club, Fagen said, will always be to entertain and bring laughter.

"I've always loved comedy," she said. "I just think it's a good cleanser for the soul."
