The Tigers are still winless in the SEC this season.

Auburn dropped its seventh consecutive conference match to open the season, 3-1 to Georgia on Sunday afternoon in Auburn Arena.

Auburn started the first set by trailing Georgia and failed to get the lead for the remainder of that frame. The Bulldogs were able to win the set, 27-25.

After a close first set the Tigers began the second set on the wrong end of most plays, trailing the Bulldogs the first few minutes. After a very brief lead, the Tigers then fell behind the Bulldogs and failed to catch up. Led by Meghan Donovan and Brynn Chandler, the Bulldogs drove past the Tigers, winning the set 25-15.

Entering the third set, the Tigers were able to rally together with key hits from Lily Thomason and key blocks from Jaedan Brown, winning the set, 26-24.

"Well I think part of that is that we were blocking well," Auburn head coach Rick Nold said of winning the third set, "which kinda set up some good opportunities offensively. But again, I think it was more than taking care of the little things that gave us the opportunity to attack, and we took advantage of it.”

The Tigers struggled with getting points in the first few minutes of the fourth set. Auburn also could not stop Georgia's Rachel Ritchie and Kayla Rivera.

The Tigers lost the fourth set, 25-16.

“I thought in stretches we did a good job with that, I just think we gave up a lot of points on some easy things that we can control," Nold said. "But it's something that we've got to build on, we've struggled for the last couple weeks and I thought we had a good response to that this weekend, just gotta make the plays to win these matches.”

The Tigers are set to face Mississippi State in Starkville at 8 p.m. CST on Friday.
