Auburn fans rushed the field following a 48-45 victory over in-state rival Alabama on Saturday night, and it resulted in a fine of $250,000 to the University for violating the Southeastern Conference’s policy that prohibits fan access to the competition area.

The fine will be deposited into the SEC’s Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.

Financial penalties were increased by the conference during the 2015 SEC Spring Meetings and the penalties are as follows: first offense, fine of $50,000; second offense, fine of $100,000; third and subsequent offenses, fine of $250,000.

This is the fourth time the University has been fined for rushing the "competition area", with the last time being after the 2017 Iron Bowl in a 26-14 Auburn victory. Auburn was also fined after the 2013 Iron Bowl and the 2016 men's basketball win over Kentucky.
