Updated at 12:40 p.m.

The National Weather Service is expecting severe weather in Auburn on Sunday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Monday.

Auburn is under a "moderate risk," meaning tornadoes, damaging winds and hail are all possible, according to the NWS.

Here is the updated map with risk areas and timing for severe weather in central Alabama for the rest of today. If you are in or near an area that is ANY COLOR on this map, then you need to be weather aware today. Have MULTIPLE ways to receive severe weather warnings. #alwx pic.twitter.com/MdRuLH6Skr

Forecasters and experts are advising Alabamians to prepare now for severe weather and have a plan in place for taking shelter.

Greene Hall — located in the College of Veterinary Medicine — and Ralph Draughon Library are opened whenever a tornado watch is issued for Auburn University, day or night, for those who do not have a suitable place to shelter.
