Former Auburn linebacker Deshaun Davis is going international.

He inked a deal with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League on Wednesday, the team announced on Twitter.

Davis will join forces with former Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall, who plays defensive back for the Roughriders.

Ranked as a 4-star prospect out of high school by ESPN, Davis redshirted his first year and saw limited action the following year as a redshirt freshman. Davis soon became a consistent starter at middle linebacker for the Tigers, starting every game at the position his redshirt sophomore year. That season, he had a team-high 10 tackles and four tackles for loss against Alabama. It was the most TFL in a game by an Auburn player since 2009.

The Prichard, Alabama, native finished his final three seasons on the Plains as a starter at middle linebacker, amassing 266 career tackles. His senior season, he was placed on the Reese’s Senior Bowl watch list and was a quarterfinalist for the Lott Impact Trophy.

Davis was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft as the 210th overall selection. He was waived by the team during final roster cuts the following August.

After that, Davis spent time on the Jaguars’ and Eagles’ practice squads, before signing with Saskatchewan.

The CFL was originally scheduled to begin its regular season in June, but has since been delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The league has announced it intends to play a full season, but that the season will not start before July.

Saskatchewan’s Mosaic Stadium will play host to the 108th Grey Cup, the championship game of the CFL. The Roughriders have not appeared in or won a Grey Cup since 2013, the last time they hosted the championship game.
