Injured senior linebacker K.J. Britt announced on Thursday via Twitter that he will not be returning this season and instead will turn his attention to the 2021 NFL Draft.
Britt had high expectations heading into the 2020 season as he was named to the preseason All-SEC First-Team. The senior linebacker was injured in Auburn's Week 2 contest against Georgia and has not played since The Deep South's Oldest Rivalry.
Britt underwent surgery to repair the torn ligaments in his thumb, returned to the team, and began helping out on the sidelines. Britt has been helping out from the sidelines since Auburn's game against Ole Miss in October.
The senior appeared in 42 games during his time at Auburn and finished with 119 total tackles. Britt became a first-year starter in 2019 and had his most successful season on the Plains with 69 total tackles.
His performance in 2019 earned him a spot on All-SEC First-Team.
