After leading the Tigers with 113 total tackles in 2020, Auburn linebacker Zakoby McClain has received some preseason recognition.
The senior linebacker was named to the Bednarik Award watch list on Monday. The award is given to the best defensive player in college football and has been given out annually since 1995.
McClain played in all 11 games last season, finishing the year with three sacks, one forced fumble, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 57 solo tackles and 113 total tackles.
His 113 total tackles were not only a team-best but were also the third-most in the SEC last season.
Despite the loss of K.J. Britt to the NFL, Auburn is bringing back both starting linebackers in 2021 in McClain and Owen Pappoe.
