In the first week of the Tiger's schedule, Auburn had two players awarded with weekly honors on Monday.
Sophomore Anna Haddock won SEC Offensive Player of the Week, for scoring or assisting on three of Auburn’s four combined goals against Samford and No. 12 BYU, including both game-winners. In the 70th minute against Samford, Haddock netted the game-sealing goal that marked Auburn’s comeback win and scored both goals against BYU.
Alyssa Malonson, a senior defender and midfielder, won SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Malonson scored from midfield against Samford, netting a header that tied Auburn with the Bulldogs 1-1. In the following contest, Malonson assisted on Haddock’s game-winner against BYU, putting her at 20 career assists.
Auburn (2-0, 0-0 SEC) next travels to Troy to take on the Trojans on Thursday, followed by a match against South Alabama in Mobile on Sunday.
