The City of Auburn said in a release Wednesday that most of its core facilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6, for the Labor Day holiday.
Most of Auburn Parks and Recreation's facilities are included in the list of closures, but open-air parks, playgrounds and cemeteries will remain open throughout the holiday, according to David Dorton, director of public affairs. Samford Pool and the Yarbrough Tennis Center will also be open, he said.
"The tennis center will be open regular hours, and the pool will be open from noon to 1:30 p.m. for lap swim only," Dorton wrote in the release.
Collection for garbage, trash and recycling is scheduled to be delayed by one day throughout the week, with Monday's route being collected Tuesday and so on through Friday, Sept. 10.
"Public safety services including police fire and communications will remain on their regular schedules," Dorton wrote.
The Auburn Public Library is also among those closed but Dorton wrote that its book drops will stay open and library patrons may view its online collection on the library's website.
Street-level parking in downtown Auburn will be waived in accordance with the City's weekend parking policy, but this does not include the new Wright Street Parking Deck, according to Dorton. The deck will retain its normal fees of $1 per hour to $15 per 24 hours.
