Police tape surrounds a crime scene.

An Auburn woman is facing charges for firing a weapon into an unoccupied residence and vehicle.

Auburn police arrested Ashanae Teonna Bowen, 19, from Auburn, on Oct. 13, on felony warrants charging her with two counts of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied dwelling or vehicle, according to a press release from the Auburn Police Division.

Discharging a firearm into an occupied building or vehicle is a class B felony in Alabama.

The arrest stems from an investigation beginning in March. On March 7, 2021, officers responded to calls of gunfire in the 900 block of North Donahue Drive, which is near the intersection with Raintree Avenue.

While at the scene, officers found that a vehicle and residence had been struck by gunfire.

Police identified Bowen as a suspect, and warrants were obtained for Bowen’s arrest after further investigation by talking to witnesses and discovering more bullet shells at the scene, according to assistant police chief Clarence Stewart.

Police arrested Bowen on Wednesday and transported Bowen to the Lee County Jail to be held on $100,000 bond.
