Auburn dropped its match against the South Carolina Gamecocks 3-0 from Auburn Arena on Wednesday.

The home Tigers started out the first set going up 11-5, but the visiting Gamecocks went on an 8-1 run to take a 13-12 lead. From there, the teams went back and forth with the score at one point being tied 19-19 before South Carolina rattled off three straight points and eventually took the set 25-23.

In the first set, Rebekah Rath and Tatum Shipes each totaled three kills to pace the Tigers. South Carolina totaled five service aces with three coming during its 8-1 run that gave it the 13-12 lead.

The second set was a disaster for the Tigers, as the visiting Gamecocks started out the set on a 12-3 run and never looked back, finishing the second set with a 25-13 win.

The Tigers played very inefficiently in the second set, as they totaled eight errors in the set and allowed the Gamecocks to rack up five aces during the set.

The third set was close throughout the whole set, as the deficit never got above four either way, but the Gamecocks took control of the third set after the score was tied at 12 and ended up winning the third and final set 25-22.

The difference in the third set was that the Tigers made too many errors once more, totaling 10 errors during the third and final set.

Rath led the Tigers with 10.5 points on the night, trailed by Val Green and Tatum Shipes, who each totaled nine points on the night. Shipes had an efficient night, totaling seven kills in only nine attempts to give her a hit percent of .667.

The Tigers are back in action on Nov. 17 to face Florida. The game is set to start at 6 p.m. CST from Gainesville.
