Johnnie Harris and her Auburn Tigers are eyeing a three-game win streak after back-to-back wins against Charleston Southern and North Florida.
The next task for the Tigers is Oklahoma State in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. The Cowgirls hold a 3-3 record and are on the back of two straight losses, one to Green Bay and the other to No. 11 Tennessee.
Auburn is 3-1 at home this season after dropping its first game of the season to Georgia Southern. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State is 2-0 on the road.
With the Tigers looking to prolong their winning streak, and the Cowgirls looking to end their losing streak, both teams are motivated to find a win.
Fresh off its win against North Florida, Auburn continues to ride the scoring of Aicha Coulibaly. After dropping 23 points and eight rebounds against the Ospreys, the sophomore guard is averaging 16 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes per game.
One of Auburn’s biggest strengths is its ability to get to get to the free throw line and then convert. The Tigers have shot 57 free throws over the last two games and made 77% of those free throws. Against a defense that only gives up 55 points per game, the Tigers will certainly attack the basket to get to the charity stripe.
Oklahoma State has a more balanced attack on offense. The Cowgirls leading scorer, Lauren Fields, averages 12 points per game while sophomore forward Taylen Collins averages eight points and six rebounds per game.
The game can be seen on SEC Network-plus from Auburn Arena at 2 p.m. CST on Sunday afternoon.
