In the new year, Auburn will host the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA pageants on Jan. 14 and 15, 2022, at Auburn University’s Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center.
This long-standing tradition will be host to the talents of more than 80 contestants at the start of the year. These talents will be showcased and evaluated through an interview and evening gown and swimsuit/activewear competitions.
Each participant is competing for thousands of dollars in scholarships and various prizes. In addition, contestants have the honor of traveling the state to promote the pageant and its charitable alliances.
The Miss Alabama Teen USA pageant will feature contestants ages 14-18; the Miss Alabama USA pageant will feature contestants ages 18-27. The preliminary competition will be held on Friday evening, Jan. 14, followed by the final competition on Saturday evening, Jan. 15.
This two-day event is an official state preliminary to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants, sponsored by the Miss Universe Organization. Winners from the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA pageants will represent Alabama and later compete for the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA titles in 2022.
In years prior, judges for the pageants have included celebrities such as Austen Kroll, star of Bravo TV’s “Southern Charm”; Dr. Bill Dorfman from ABC’s “Extreme Makeover”; and Cammy Miller, owner of the clothing store Show Me Your MuMu.
Lauren Bradford, last year's winner of the pageant and Auburn graduate, went on to earn first-runner up in the Miss USA competition.
