- Gender, a social construct, and sex, anatomical factors, are two separate categories.
- When someone’s sex assigned at birth matches their gender identity, they are considered cisgender.
- The concept that gender is strictly men and women, along with the gender roles assigned to each, is the gender binary.
- Nonbinary individuals are those who do not identify within the gender binary.
