Auburn’s leading receiver last season has a new home. On Jan. 3, sophomore receiver Kobe Hudson announced that he had been kicked off Auburn’s football team and that he intended to play elsewhere.
Wednesday night, Hudson committed to the University of Central Florida where he will reunite with former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn — who originally recruited Hudson to Auburn.
Hudson had a quiet freshman season as he was buried on the depth chart – only recording seven catches for 70 yards, but he quickly distanced himself as Auburn’s best receiver during his sophomore season. Hudson led the Tigers in receptions and receiving yards and tied Demetris Robertson with four receiving touchdowns.
Hudson was the only player to score a touchdown in the last two games of the season for Auburn and had a career-high 107 yards against Mississippi State.
With Hudson’s departure, Auburn’s leading returning receiver will be Shedrick Jackson, who announced Jan. 5 that he would return to Auburn for his fifth season.
Hudson played two seasons for the Tigers and will have three seasons of eligibility for the Golden Knights.
