Auburn’s Walker Kessler has been named the SEC Co-Player of the Week following his performances against Arkansas and Texas A&M. Kessler averaged 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 9.5 blocks per game this week.
Against the Razorbacks on Tuesday, Kessler scored 16 points, grabbed a season-high 19 rebounds and blocked seven shots in 33 minutes before fouling out in overtime.
On Saturday, Kessler earned the second triple-double of his career. Against the Aggies, Kessler scored 12 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and blocked 12 shots.
Kessler became the fifth player in SEC history to record multiple triple-doubles. Kessler is tied for second in SEC history with his two triple-doubles, trailing only Shaquille O’Neal who had six in his career.
Also earning Player of the Week honors from the SEC was Kentucky’s Oscar Tschibwe. Tschibwe averaged 22.5 points and 16.5 rebounds per game against South Carolina and Florida this week.
Kessler and his teammates will be back in action this week as the Tigers host Vanderbilt on Wednesday at 8 p.m. CST followed by a road trip to Florida on Saturday at 1 p.m. CST.
