Auburn students cheer on the tigers at a white-out themed game.

With football season in it’s prime, students are more eager than ever to have the perfect look for every game-day theme. Over the years Auburn has stuck with tradition and had various themes for certain game-days. White out, orange out and navy out are the most popular. Themes are important aspects of game-days because it allows everyone to coordinate and flushes out the stadium with a sea of one color.

For the majority of Auburn students, the orange out takes the win for the favorite. “I love seeing the stadium turn completely orange,” said Kennedy Taunton, sophomore in communications disorders.

The orange out has been one of Auburn’s most famous themes, complete with orange shakers and the occasional orange jersey worn by players.

“I wish the team would pull the orange jerseys back out. It has been long enough,” said Libby Shock, junior in public relations.

With almost 70 years since the Tigers have been suited up in a full orange uniform, it is clear that the students are begging for them to make a comeback.

“Social media makes everyone think the players are going to come out in orange uniforms,” said Cabri Adams, sophomore in elementary education.

Despite the disappointment among students and fans of no orange jerseys, the spirits were still high and they still go all out.

“I think it looks the best in pictures and the orange shakers make the Auburn fans stick out,” Shock said.

Auburn students having school spirit is no secret and it becomes more evident on every game-day. “I always see almost everyone participate (in the themes) and it makes it so much more fun,” Taunton said.

The white-out is another fan favorite.

“My favorite is definitely white out. It is always the first game of the season and everyone is so hype for it,” Adams said. “I think it makes everyone feel more unified and apart of the Auburn Family when we dress the themes,” said Shock.

Blue out is the other fan favorite. Blue and orange are Auburn’s traditional colors so it’s no shock it is a favorite of many. All blue games are fairly new to the Auburn Tradition despite blue jerseys being worn for many years. A blue-out theme complete with blue shakers and the fans decked head to toe in navy is a rare, but fun experience.

“Blue-out is my favorite because we don’t have it very often, but when we do, the entire stadium is in on it; it looks great,” said Jayce Ingalls, junior in business management.

With 3 out of the 12 total games being themed, they seem to be the most enjoyed by students. “I love themed games,” said Taunton.

Themes games are a way for the students and fans to come together as one and take over the stadium. “The stadium looks better when we all wear the same,” said Ingalls.

The themes add a fun touch and pop of color to the stadium and allow students to cheer for the tigers with as much school spirit as possible.
