Auburn heads to Georgia to face last year's national champions after a disappointing loss to LSU at home. The Tigers are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play as they hit the road for their first away game. Here's how our staff picked the game:
Callie Stanford, Sports Editor: UGA 49-10
"I think with Auburn's injuries and Georgia's overall skill, this turns into an ugly loss. Georgia is likely mad coming off a close win over Missouri and the home environment will only add to that. Robby Ashford should continue to develop but it won't be enough to compete with Georgia's elite talent."
Noah Griffith, Assistant Sports Editor: UGA 38-13
"Last year, Auburn went into the Georgia game on a high after a road win versus LSU and getting a No. 18 ranking. Even then, the Tigers got dominated 34-10 at home. I can't see things being better this year. Despite the emergence of Robby Ashford and receivers like Koy Moore and Camden Brown, Auburn hasn't won a turnover battle through week five. They continue to falter in the second half, and I don't see Georgia as an opponent Auburn puts things together against."
Jacob Waters, Sports Reporter: UGA 34-7
"Auburn has not won at Sanford Stadium since 2005, and I have very little belief that this is the year to break that streak. Georgia struggled the past two weeks against Kent State and Missouri, but I agree with what Callie said. Returning home and playing in a rivalry game, Georgia will come out with its hair on fire ready to light up Auburn, and Kirby Smart will not have his team play three straight weeks of bad football. Mix that with Auburn's rough three weeks of play plus this being the Tigers' first road trip of the season, and I think this will get out of hand quick."
Manny Davidson, Sports Writer: Auburn 28-21
"In the first half of the Auburn, LSU game, it was a complete 180 of what we saw in the Penn State game; for the Georgia game, it just depends on which Auburn shows up. Story of Auburn football's life. If Auburn can establish a passing game, then I think a win is possible. Missouri and Kent State showed that Georgia can potentially be beaten, and I think Auburn can catch them off-guard and leave Athens with a win. Realistically, however, if Auburn continues with how they have been playing, then I think it will be a blowout, but like I mentioned before, you never know which team will show up. I think for the first away game- the Tigers will manage to get a win."
Donavan Weaver, Sports Writer: Auburn 27-24
“Robbie Ashford and the offensive line made vast improvements last week. Take away the turnovers and Auburn beats LSU handedly. Couple that with Georgia's recent struggles and you have the makings of a rivalry upset.”
