For the second consecutive year, the Plainsman’s Choice voters have chosen Suni Lee as the best female athlete.
Lee just completed her second and final season on the Auburn gymnastics team. She is leaving the team to train for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
An Olympian in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Lee earned gold, silver and bronze medals for the United States – taking gold in the all-around competition.
In her first season with the Tigers, Lee led the team to the NCAA Final Four – the team’s first appearance in school history. Lee was the 2022 National Champion on the balance beam and the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year. In her freshman year, Lee became the most decorated gymnast in a single season in Auburn history.
In her collegiate career, Lee scored nine perfect 10s – the most by any Auburn gymnast. At the end of the 2023 regular season, Lee ranked fourth nationally on the uneven bars with a NQS of 9.956.
In her final season with the Tigers, Lee scored a career-high 9.950 on vault and tied her career high on the bars, vault and beam.
Lee was unable to compete in the team’s last four meets due to a health-related issue involving her kidneys but despite a short time in Auburn, Lee became one of the most decorated gymnasts and female athletes in school history and brought the gymnastics program to new heights.
