Jarquez Hunter, the presumptive favorite to start at running back for Auburn this season, made his return to practice on Tuesday. Hunter was not seen in the first two media viewings at fall camp as he was the subject of a misconduct investigation that dated back to May.
The preseason third-team All-SEC running back enters the 2023 season, his third with the program, with 1,261 career yards and 10 touchdowns. Hunter spent the past two seasons as the primary backup to Tank Bigsby, now with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The junior, who was named a freshman All-SEC performer in 2021, was participating with the first-team offense during media viewings and headlines a running back room that offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery says will work "by committee" this season.
