Even with the blockbuster Eras tour overseas, Auburn students are buzzing about the upcoming Eras Tour movie, which hits theaters October 13, the Friday of fall break.

This is the first movie from Taylor Swift to debut in theaters. Her previous two films, Miss Americana and Reputation Stadium Tour, aired on Netflix.

While most Swifties were somewhat expecting a movie, excitement grabbed the community. Swift took to Instagram to make the announcement, saying, “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged… 123 LGB!!!! (iykyk)”

Auburn Swifties are excited to abide by Swift’s encouragements.

“I’m definitely planning on dressing up. I’m going to try to make friendship bracelets too. But I’m definitely wearing my outfit,” Chloe DeBoer, senior in marine biology, said.

Friendship bracelets have become the biggest party favor of Eras' shows. Beaded bracelets that featured song titles, acronyms, or lyrics from her discography were hugely popular and traded between attendees.

Sara Amis, Editor-in-Chief of the Auburn Circle, said she loves seeing how much Swift means to girls.

“I think some of the other part that's just so incredible is how much it means to girls especially- everyone dressed up and just seeing how excited everybody was. And the friendship bracelets… it’s just a celebration of what girlhood is,” Amis said.

Especially for Auburn students who couldn’t attend the tour, Eras coming to the big screen is exciting. While the general expectation is that the movie will be the show in its entirety, there’s some speculation about the additional moments that will be included, or if any moments outside of the stage performance will be.

The three hour, 44 song set displays some very impressive scenery, including 13 outfit switches, full-stage set changes, and at one point, Swift even dives and ‘swims’ through the stage.

“Ideally… you’d get all the behind the scenes, what her thought process was in making the show, but then you also see the show,” Mackenzie Dean, junior in psychology, said.

Another big question surrounding the movie is how the now famed "surprise songs," will be shown. The surprise songs are two songs from Swift’s discography, performed with solo accompaniment of either piano or guitar about three-fourths of the way into the show. No shows have had the same two songs performed.

Because of this, questions have arisen about which songs will be included, and which performances we will see footage from.

“I'm a little curious on how she's going to do the surprise songs, because if the movie is just the regular concert, is she only going to include the surprise songs that are from the concert that she filmed? Which one did she film? I just want to see them all. Her acoustic sets are the best,” Amis said.

The surprise songs are a hugely coveted part of The Eras Tour.

While all Swiftie students are eager to get to the movie, opening weekend falling on fall break will likely push many viewing times back.

So, after your fall break adventures, grab some friends and head over to AMC to join the Swiftie fun.
