As the first week of college basketball concluded, the SEC crowned Auburn point guard Aden Holloway the first SEC Freshman of the Week award winner for the 2023-24 season.
Despite coming off the bench in his first two games in an Auburn uniform, Holloway made an instant impact in the Tigers' lineup. His 15 points per game is second on the team, while his 4.5 assists per game puts him second in the SEC.
The former five-star recruit praised for his shooting ability has shown a glimpse of that ability, shooting 43.8% on 3-point attempts, ranking him 12th in the SEC.
In the loss against Baylor, Holloway scored 19 points with six assists and three rebounds while shooting 4-for-8 on 3-point attempts in his college debut. Against Southeastern Louisiana, Holloway scored 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting, including 3-for-8 on 3-pointers, and added three assists.
Holloway is the first Auburn Tiger to win the award since Jabari Smith won it six times in the 2021-22 season.
