Auburn flipped a commitment on the defensive line as Amaris Williams, who had been committed to Florida since June 17, committed to the Tigers Wednesday.

Williams, a 4-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, comes to the Tigers from Clifton, North Carolina. The 6-foot-3-inch, 270-pound lineman is rated as the No. 79 recruit in the nation.

The Tigers beat out the Gators and Ohio State for Williams, who made his announcement during a ceremony at Clifton High School. His primary recruiters at Auburn were defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett and linebackers coach Josh Aldridge.

Williams’ commitment brings Auburn up to the No. 8 class in the nation, according to 247Sports. The Tigers currently rank fourth in the SEC, behind Georgia, Alabama and Texas.
