For Auburn and Opelika residents, whether they are students or working full-time, Rock ‘N Roll Pinball, located in downtown Opelika, is a staple for any night of the week. Featuring a pinball machine room in the front of the building and a bar/stage in the back, you’ll be sure to find something for you here.

For how exciting this bar can be, it’s not surprising that this business has accumulated a high number of regulars, all of whom seem to know each other. What is surprising, though, is that the age group of this bar spans from people in their early 20s to those in their late 60s, and this has no effect on their love for each other.

Although the venue usually has events going on almost every night of the week, Thursdays are typically when the fun starts with an open mic night. Patrons are encouraged to bring full bands and can play almost five full songs in a row. Most performances are weekly recurrences and the crowd never fails to go wild every time.

“The live music scene is awesome...I enjoy that, and the open mic is just fantastic," said Tyler Holmes. "It’s nice to see local folks come out and support this place."

Holmes and his bandmate, Jared Deal, perform with their rock band at Rock ‘N Roll Pinball consistently and are proud to know so many of the patrons.

“It’s a cool venue; they have some professional sound here and it’s always a good evening, Thursday consistently," said Deal. There’s people here and bands playing; it’s a great time."

For residents living in the Auburn/Opelika area, it can be difficult to find spaces, bars especially, that aren’t overrun with Auburn University students. For locals, as well as students, Rock ‘N Roll Pinball is a perfect place to go when you’re looking to switch up your weekend nights.

Even the bartenders have something to say about the innate sense of comradery at the venue.

“All the bartenders at Rock ‘N Roll know them," said Sally Little who works as a bartender at the establishment. "When I got hired, I got a debrief on all the regulars. I feel like the community is so important to us that we’re knowledgeable on all the regulars and what they like."

Being a bartender at this venue means memorizing everyone’s name and their usual drink order, making for a more intimate and special experience. This place has some of the most loyal clientele in all of Auburn and Opelika, and it’s because everyone feels welcome and appreciated.

So next time you’re looking for a place to spend your Thursday night, skip the crowded bars in downtown Auburn and the pricey covers and check out Rock ‘N Pinball for a unique and friendly experience.
