The Auburn women’s golf team finished in second place on Monday at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla. The tournament was shortened to two rounds due to weather, and the Tigers finished the contest at 7-under (553), capturing a 280 (E) in the final round and finishing two strokes behind tournament winner Houston.

Anna Davis recorded only the third score of 64 (-6) ever by a Tiger in Saturday’s opening round, tying the program’s lowest single round. She followed up with a 71 (+1) in the second round, securing her second consecutive runner-up finish with a 5-under total (135) for the tournament.

Casey Weidenfeld finished tied for fifth place, marking her third career top-5 finish. She captured two rounds of 68 (-2) including two birdies.

“Proud of our ladies for the fight as the ball striking from some was a struggle, but their short games were amazing,” said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. “Anna (Davis) had another great tournament, and it was good to see Casey (Weidenfeld) miss qualifying for the first tournament and bounce back with a top-5.”

Katie Cranston captured a 19th place finish with a total score of 140 (E) and a final round score of 71 (+1). Cranston finished the front nine of round two at 3-under par, thanks to three birdies.

Carys Worby provided a 70 (E) on Monday with the help of two birdies. Worby finished in a tie for 33rd on the individual leaderboard.

Rachel Gourley recovered from a challenging first round with a second-round score of 71 (+1), climbing 12 spots on the leaderboard to tie for 68th place.

“Disappointed to not get the win, but Houston played well,” Luellen said. “The conditions were ripe for a low round, we just didn’t get it done. We always talk about having a chance to win and we had that opportunity.”
