"New Mexico gave No. 20 Arizona a scare a few weeks ago down just three points at the half. The Lobos quarterback Devon Dampier threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns as well as rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Auburn’s defense seemed to get better as the game progressed against Cal last Saturday. I expect the Tigers to respond well, with new starter at quarterback Hank Brown, against the Lobos."

"While New Mexico has an opportunity to make a statement offensively, its defense will not be able to keep the Lobos in the contest for very long. I expect Auburn to use this week as a confidence booster and chance to find an offensive groove."

"After a disappointing start to the 2024 season, Auburn will look to snap its four-game losing streak against FBS opponents. New Mexico kept its contest with No. 20 Arizona within three points going into halftime until Tetairoa McMillan took over and recorded over three hundred receiving yards. With Cam Coleman doubtful, it remains unknown who the Tigers will rely on to have that take-over performance.
The Tigers will come out hungry for a win on homecoming. However, lackluster pass defense and quarterback play will not answer any questions for Auburn in a closer-than-anticipated win."

"The Tigers are looking to bounce back after a difficult loss last week at home to Cal as they face off against New Mexico for this year’s homecoming game. I expect Auburn will build on its defensive showing so far this season as the Tigers have amassed 19 TFL which is eighth in the nation amongst FBS programs by shutting down Lobo’s QB Devon Dampier and the rest of their offense. Auburn’s offense should have a favorable showing as they are going against a defense for New Mexico that has struggled thus far in the season.
Auburn will have the athletes at wide receiver paired with its rushing attack from RB Jarquez Hunter to outmatch the New Mexico defense.. The Tigers are trotting out redshirt freshman Hank Brown at quarterback who has a 71.4 completion percentage in his small sample size in college. If Brown keeps to this trend and minimizes turnovers, the Tigers should have no issues handling business in their matchup against the Lobos early. I see an Auburn team that is excited to go back out on Saturday and shift its momentum back into the win column."

"The Tigers are looking to regain their confidence this week before heading into conference play against Arkansas. They are looking to prove that last week's game against Cal was an outlier.
Expect Freeze to have more of a balanced offense in the first half, but still capitalize on some deep passing plays to get out to an early lead. Quarterback play could be more conservative this game however, and may need to shake off some rust from last game. New Mexico's quarterback had a good game against power four opponent in Arizona a couple weeks ago, so expect him to throw a couple touchdowns and get them on the board to make this an interesting game early on. Though Auburn will pull away in the second half and have a commanding lead to close out the game and feel good about going into conference play."
