Auburn men’s basketball checked in at No. 11 in the Associated Press’s top 25 preseason poll – marking the highest preseason AP ranking since 2018-19, when the Tigers made the Final Four.
With the start to the 2024-25 season just 23 days out, Auburn is the second highest ranked team in the SEC, followed behind No. 2 Alabama. Following the Tigers is No. 12 Tennessee, No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 16 Arkansas, No. 19 Texas, No. 21 Florida, No. 23 Kentucky and No. 24 Ole Miss.
Auburn is slated to face off against at least 12 of the 25 teams featured in the preseason poll – including three of the top five – this season. The Tigers could pick up a 13th or 14th preseason ranked opponent if Auburn faces No. 9 North Carolina or No. 3 UConn in the Maui Jim Invitational.
The No. 11 ranking marks the third highest preseason ranking in program history tying the 2018-19 season. Auburn was preseason No. 4 prior to the 1999-2000 season and No. 10 before the 1985-86 season.
The Tigers are set to head to Birmingham, AL tomorrow for SEC Media Days to preview the upcoming season. Bruce Pearl, who will take the stage at 12:25 p.m. CST, with be joined by Johni Broome and Denver Jones.
