Syriah Daniels is a valuable addition to the Auburn women’s basketball program for the 2024-2025 season. Daniels is a 6-foot wing from Auburn, a first-team All-State selection, and averaged 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists while at Auburn High School.
"Syriah is a big guard who is a triple-threat player," said Auburn head coach Johnnie Harris. "Defensively, she can guard 1 through 4, which will help us in our style of play. She's an asset to our program, a great kid from a great family, and with two parents who both played for Auburn, she loves Auburn and wants to continue her family legacy."
Her father Marquis Daniels is the current director of player development and a former Auburn men's standout and her mother Shana Askew Daniels is a former star for the Auburn women’s team.
Daniels has impressive achievements both on and off the court. She was a finalist for the 2023 Alabama Miss Basketball and was nominated for Gatorade Player of the Year. Dan Olson Collegiate Basketball Report rated her as a No.97 national recruit and No. 21 at her position.
In addition to this, she also won a state title in flag football while at Auburn High, winning the championship game at Jordan-Hare Stadium. In her academic pursuits she is an honor student, maintaining a GPA above a 3.8.
"I picked Auburn because of the family environment it carries and how it's welcoming to everyone," said Daniels, "I wasn't born here but I was always around it. The love and support you get from the people in Auburn is genuine and sincere. It's something you can't get from just anywhere."
With her impressive skill set, and strong family ties to Auburn, Daniels is prepared to be a standout player for Auburn.
