Auburn’s soccer season came to a close on Friday evening as the No. 24 Tigers fell 2-1 to No. 10 Ohio State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

“It’s always tough to end the season with a loss, but I’m incredibly proud of how our team fought until the very end,” said Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa. “We gave ourselves opportunities to tie the game, but we just couldn’t get it done. The team gave everything they had. It’s been a great season.”

The Tigers found themselves down 2-0 at halftime after Ohio State scored in minutes 32 and 44. However, Auburn did not give up and rallied late, with sophomore Olivia Woodson pulling one back in the 85th minute. The goal came after an assist from senior Becky Contreras.

Woodson finished the season with 11 goals, marking the highest tally by an Auburn player since Kristen Dodson netted 13 in 2016.

Senior Anna Haddock made her 97th career start in the match, tying the program record set by Alyssa Malonson (2017-21). Haddock concludes her Auburn career with 44 assists, the most by any player in school history, including 13 assists in her final season, which ties the program’s single-season record.

Another standout senior, goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska, leaves a legacy as Auburn’s all-time leader in shutouts with 36. In 96 career appearances, Prohaska posted a 0.93 goals-against average and made 291 saves, ranking second and sixth, respectively, in the Tigers’ record books.
