Auburn is set to face the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks this Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium, marking the Tigers’ 12th matchup against the Warhawks, with the first being in 1994.

All previous 11 matchups were won by Auburn and all happened inside the friendly confines of Jordan-Hare Stadium.

There were two games where the Warhawks have come close to defeating the Tigers. In 1996, ULM fell \ four points behind against Auburn (24-28) and only lost by a field goal (28-31) in 2012. In every other game, the Tigers won by at least three touchdowns.

The Warhawks gained a reputation with their memorable 21-14 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2007. This was Nick Saban's first season with the Tide following his time with the NFL's Miami Dolphins. Although Alabama was not yet in its prime under Saban's leadership, this upset remains a notable moment in college football history.

The Warhawks have pulled off several surprising upsets throughout their history. In 2012, they claimed their first-ever victory over a ranked team by defeating No. 8 Arkansas 34-31 in overtime. This season, they achieved a 4-1 record for the first time in their FBS era with a 21-19 win over the James Madison Dukes.

ULM, however, has gone 1-4 in their last five matchups, standing at a 5-4 record currently. If the Warhawks win Saturday, they will become bowl eligible in the FBS for the second time in program history. On the other side, if Auburn loses on Saturday, they will lose bowl eligibility, for the second time in five years.

“Well, we don’t take anyone lightly, from the staff’s perspective,” said Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze. “We should have learned enough lessons about that over the course of time here. This is a good football team that plays really hard and had good schemes, good coaches, and enough players to scare you.”

The Tigers take on the ULM Warhawks in Jordan-Hare Stadium this Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11:45 a.m. CST. The game will be broadcasted on SEC Network.
