Redshirt freshman quarterback and former three-star recruit Hank Brown became the tenth Tiger on Sunday evening to announce his move to the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2024 season.
Brown, a native Nashville, TN, was recruited by Hugh Freeze at Liberty prior to the head coaches’ move to Auburn. The quarterback prospect would soon follow Freeze to Auburn where he would spend two seasons as a Tiger.
The 6-foot-4, 204 pound quarterback appeared in five games during his two season span – four of which occurred in the 2024 campaign. In the week after Auburn’s first loss of the season to Cal, Brown was announced as the Tigers’ starting quarterback for the upcoming matchup with New Mexico.
Against the Lobos, Brown completed 17-of-25 passes for 235 yards and four touchdowns in the rain. The redshirt freshman’s starting duties were quickly revoked, however, just one game later after throwing four interceptions in the first half in Auburn’s loss to Arkansas.

Other than coming in for a singular snap on the road at Missouri after a Thorne injury, Brown didn’t see the field the rest of the season.
In the Music City Bowl against Maryland to conclude the 2023 season, Brown made his first ever appearance following a disastrous Auburn start and completed 7-of-9 passes for 132 yards against the Terrapins.
Both quarterbacks Brown and Holden Geriner have announced moves to the transfer portal Sunday afternoon leaving Freeze and the Tigers with Walker White and high-school signee Deuce Knight at the position for next season.
