Auburn QB Holden Geriner (12) prepares to pass the football against Texas A&M in Kyle Field, on Sept 23, 2023.

Redshirt sophomore quarterback and former four-star recruit, per the 247 sports ratings, Holden Geriner became the first Auburn player to enter the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2024 season last saturday night.

Geriner, a native of Savannah, GA, spent three seasons with the program and appeared in just eight games, never consistently getting higher than third inside the pecking order of Auburn’s quarterback room.

This past season, Geriner completed two passes, on two attempts, for 33 yards against Alabama A&M in the season opener. The redshirt sophomore’s only other appearance during the 2024 campaign was at the conclusion of the New Mexico win.

The 6-foot-3, 205 pound quarterback played in five games last season, accumulating 15 passing attempts for 75 yards – most of which was in the Tigers’ road loss at Texas A&M and bowl game loss to Maryland.

As a true freshman, Geriner was thrust into action, due to injury, against Missouri and went 2-for-3 through the air for just eight yards. Notably, Geriner was also announced as the starter inside of Jordan-Hare Stadium against Arkansas, Bryan Harsin’s final game, but never ended up recording a snap.

Geriner marks the first departure from the program for the offseason.
