National player of the year candidate Johni Broome was named the SEC’s co-player of the week for the third time this season following his performance in Auburn’s 38-point blow out of Ohio State in Atlanta last Saturday.

Broome racked up a career high 20 rebounds, along with 21 points, in his first ever 20 points and 20 rebound game –  the first Auburn player to record 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game since Kelvin Ardister in 1989.

“I feel like I can get better. You know, shot 50% today. I missed a lot of shots today, so I wouldn't consider it my best basketball. I feel like I can play a lot better,” Broome said following the win over Ohio State..

With his impressive stat line versus Ohio State, Broome was the first NCAA Division I player in the past 25 years to have at least 20 points, at least 20 rebounds and at least five assists with zero turnovers in the same game. Of the three individual performances of at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists in a Division I game this season, Johni Broome has all of them.

Broome and the Tigers will be back in action inside of Neville Arena on Tuesday night against Georgia State before heading to Birmingham, AL on Saturday to take on No. 16 Purdue.
