Former Oklahoma starting quarterback and former five-star prospect Jackson Arnold transferred to Auburn Saturday morning, Auburn Undercover reported and the team confirmed — marking the first time in program history the Tigers have two five-star quarterbacks in the same room.
Appearing in 10 of the Sooners’ 12 contests during the 2024 season, Arnold complied 1421 passing yards completing 62.6% of his passes with 12 touchdowns compared to just three interceptions.
The Sooner quarterback started the first four games of the season for Brent Venables’ squad but didn’t see action against Auburn or Texas following the home loss to Tennessee.
The 6-foot-1, 210 pound quarterback appeared in seven games during his true freshman season and started in the Alamo Bowl following Dillon Gabriel’s decision to transfer to Oregon.
Against Arizona in the Alamo Bowl, Arnold completed 26-of-45 passes for 361 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start.
Arnold, 247Sports’ No. 8 player overall nationally in the class of 2023, marks just the fourth five-star quarterback to join the program joining Cam Newton, Jason Campbell and 2025 signee Deuce Knight.
Based off 247Sports’ composite rankings, Arnold would be the third-highest rated high school prospect ever signed by Auburn behind only Byron Coward, No. 3, and current Auburn freshman Cam Coleman, also No. 3.
Now joining Knight and Walker White in the quarterback room, Hugh Freeze and the Tigers are expected to still add one more quarterback from the portal to get to four players at the position group.
