Following a high scoring 15-8 victory over in-state foe Samford, the Auburn Tigers will get set to face three rare opponents as they travel to Arlington, TX to take on Ohio State, Oregon State and Baylor in the College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field.

Although the Texas Ranger’s stadium has only been open since 2020, this will be the Tigers second trip to Globe Life Field as they previously competed in the State Farm College Baseball Showdown in 2022, going 2-1 over the course of the weekend.

After the Auburn Tigers opened their season on the diamond with a 2-1 series win over Holy Cross, Butch Thompson’s team has won six straight contests and will aim to continue this trend in the Lone Star State for their first tests away from Plainsman Park.

To kick off the weekend in Texas, Auburn will go against Ohio State on Friday afternoon. Led by first year head coach Justin Haire, the Buckeyes have had a rough start to their season as they carry a 1-5 record heading into the weekend. Haire collected many accolades and successful seasons prior to leading Ohio State as he was named the Big South Coach of the Year four times and reached the NCAA Regionals five times while at Campbell.

Despite the Buckeyes poor record their offense has performed well thus far into the season by manufacturing 8.3 runs per game. Auburn has faced Ohio State just three times in their baseball history and has lost all three contests. The Tigers will look to pick up their first win against the Buckeyes while Haire and Ohio State will look to turn their fortunes around as first pitch is set for 3 p.m. CST.

Auburn will have a far greater test in its next game of the series as the Tigers will go face-to-face with No. 8 Oregon State on Saturday evening. The Beavers head to Texas on a two-game losing streak after starting their year 5-0, but veteran head coach Mitch Canham will aim to regain momentum while at Globe Life Field. Canham entered his sixth season in Corvallis this year and is looking to continue his perfect streak of leading the Beavers to a postseason berth since his hire.

Oregon State has been impressive at the plate this season as the team has scored an average of 9.0 runs per game while recording a .320 batting average with four starters batting .400 or better. This matchup will be a very enticing one to see how Auburn’s bullpen matches up against the Beavers’ bats after their recent successes. The first pitch between the Beavers and Tigers will be at 6 p.m. CST.

The final adversary to face Auburn will be the Baylor Bears as both teams will look to end the weekend and travel home on a winning note. Although Baylor has not faced the most challenging competition thus far, the Bears have looked extremely dominant by winning seven out of their eight games.

Baylor head coach Mitch Thompson has dedicated his life to baseball as he holds over 30 years of coaching experience, even coaching under Hal Baird while at Auburn in 1994. The Bear’s pitching staff has been commanding to start their season, allowing just over three runs per game thus far. The final game of the weekend is set to start at 3 p.m. CST.

All games over the course of the weekend will be streamed on FloCollege and will be available for listening on the Auburn Sports Network.
