Following a historic 11-0 start to the season, Auburn will prepare for its next challenge as it enters the Rocket City Showcase in Madison, AL. The Tigers will take on Louisiana Tech, North Alabama, Miami (OH), and Jacksonville State over the course of this upcoming weekend- February 21-23.
Led by head coach Josh Taylor, Louisiana Tech will be the first of four opponents to face Auburn as the Bulldogs try to spoil the Tigers undefeated record. Louisiana Tech will enter the weekend with a 5-5 record, coming off a 9-1 victory over Northwestern State.
Claire Raley leads the Bulldogs offense in numerous categories as the infielder has posted a .467 batting average with a 1.233 OPS and seven RBIs over 10 games played. The Tigers are 7-3 historically against Louisiana Tech and have outscored the Bulldogs by a margin of 24 runs over the course of their contests. First pitch between the teams is scheduled for 2 p.m. CST on Friday to kick off the weekend.
Early on Saturday morning Auburn will meet their next contender as the Tigers go head-to-head with in-state foe, North Alabama at 10 a.m. CST. Alike Auburn, the Lions are off to a phenomenal start to their season as they hold a 9-0 record prior to traveling to Madison.
North Alabama’s pitching staff is one of the primary reasons the team has shown success early in the season as they showcase a top ten team ERA in the nation with a total of 1.33. On the contrary, the Tigers offense will likely prove to be a tough matchup for the Lions pitchers as Auburn has recorded an average of 6.9 runs per game, led by right fielder Icess Tresvik.
Following the conclusion of the in-state matchup, Auburn will take on Miami (OH) at Toyota Field for just the second time in program history. The Redhawks have not looked impressive to start their spring as they currently hold a 3-7 record, despite going 49-9 in the previous year.
Although Miami has endured many struggles already, first year head coach Mandy Gardner-Colegate will look to improve the team’s outlook on 2025 by picking up wins this weekend before conference play.
To conclude the Tiger’s Rocket City Showcase, Auburn will go against Jacksonville State as they look to continue their good fortunes against the Gamecocks. Auburn is 11-1 all time while facing Jacksonville State, but the Tigers may face a larger challenge than they are accustomed to as the Gamecocks have held opponents to just 2.1 runs per game this season.
First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. CST on Sunday and will follow the conclusion of the Mississippi State-Miami (OH) contest.
All games over the course of the weekend will be available to watch on FloCollege and will also be broadcast on WEGL 91.1 FM.
