For the fifth consecutive week, the Auburn Tigers remain the No. 1 team in the AP Poll, marking their longest stretch at the top spot in program history.
The Tigers' hold on the No. 1 spot continues to strengthen under the leadership of head coach Bruce Pearl. This marks the 44th time in program history — and the 22nd time under Pearl — that the Tigers have ranked inside the top-five of the AP Poll.
Prior to this season, Auburn’s longest stay as the No. 1 team lasted just three weeks, from Jan. 24, 2021, to Feb. 7, 2021.
The Tigers have now been ranked No. 1 a total of eight times in program history, an impressive feat for a program that has been on a rapid rise in recent years.
In addition to the AP Poll, Auburn also sits atop the KenPom metric system, edging out powerhouse Duke by a slim +0.34 margin. Auburn has secured victories over four of KenPom’s top-10 teams—No. 3 Houston, No. 4 Tennessee, No. 7 Purdue and No. 8 Iowa State.
The Tigers currently have 12 quad-one wins so far this season – with only 3 being home games. No other team has more than eight to this date.
The top ranked Tigers will head on the road to face Vanderbilt on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. CST before hitting the road again to take on No. 2 Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. CST inside of Coleman Coliseum.
It will be the first ever matchup between Auburn and Alabama as the two top ranked teams in the AP poll.
