Fresh off suffering their first loss of the season, No. 17 Auburn softball responded by sweeping the doubleheader against North Alabama and Miami University (OH), improving their record to 13-1.
After putting up one hit yesterday in their loss to Louisiana Tech, the Tigers' offense was back to its old ways, tallying 11 hits across the two games.
“Yesterday was a struggle,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “It was good to see us find a way to get wins. Great to see the energy we had in the second game especially. We have to clean some things up, but it was good to see our team have that fight towards the end.”
In a close in-state battle, Auburn left fielder KK McCrary's two RBIs were the difference-maker, securing a 2-1 win for the Tigers against North Alabama. Facing a 6-1 deficit, Auburn stormed back against Miami (OH) with 10 straight runs to secure the 11-6 victory.
Auburn southpaw’s SJ Geurin and Chalea Clemmons appeared in both games of the doubleheader. In 9.1 innings of work, Geurin earned two wins, conceded only one earned run, and fanned eight batters. Geurin now sits at an 8-0 record on the year.
Clemmons earned the save versus North Alabama. She registered five strikeouts on Saturday.

In the first inning UNA jumped out to an early lead. With one runner aboard, Lions second baseman Hailey Jones doubled into the right field gap, scoring shortstop Briley Dover to put UNA on top 1-0.
In the home half of the first inning, the Tigers quickly responded. Following a leadoff double from shortstop Neila Peralta, McCrary smashed one up the middle with two outs to tie the game at one apiece.
In the fourth inning, McCrary continued her success at the plate, launching her second home run of the season to put Auburn on top 2-1.
Geurin and Clemmons shut the door the rest of the way. Geurin went 4.1 innings, allowing just four hits, and striking out three. Clemmons pitched the final 1.2 innings, escaping a jam in the seventh via a lineout and a strikeout.

In the opening frame Peralta capitalized on two RedHawk throwing errors to give Auburn an early 1-0 lead.
Miami (OH) brought the bats to the third inning, putting up four hits and scoring six to take a 6-1 lead. A two-run home run from Kaylee Oh and a pair of Auburn errors drove in the runs.
Auburn answered the bell in the fourth frame, responding with a five-run outburst, to tie the game at six. The RedHawks' mistakes plagued them as they allowed two walks, two throwing errors, a wild pitch, and a hit batsman.
In the fifth, second baseman Rose Roach delivered a clutch two-out, two-run double to left field, giving Auburn an 8-6 advantage.
Geurin earned the win in relief. In her five innings of work, she struck out five, allowed two hits, and two unearned runs.
Auburn will wrap up the Rocket City Showcase Sunday afternoon when it takes on Jacksonville State. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. CST, and the game can be streamed on FloSoftball.
