No. 13 Auburn gymnastics improves road score but falls to No. 7 Missouri

The No. 13 Auburn gymnastics team recorded its second-highest road score of the season Sunday, finishing with a 197.125 at the Hearnes Center. No. 7 Missouri claimed the victory with a 198.100.

“I’m really happy with the fight of this team,” said Auburn head coach Jeff Graba. “Our mission was to improve on last week’s performance, and we definitely did that. We still have work to do, but I like our chances if this team keeps pushing.”

Several Auburn gymnasts posted career-best performances, including fifth-year senior Gabby McLaughlin, who won the balance beam title with a 9.975. Aliso Viejo earned a 10.0 from one judge, tying her career high.

Sophomore Olivia Greaves also had a standout performance, scoring a career-high 9.95 on bars in the anchor spot to claim a share of the event title.

Auburn  opened the meet on bars, where Greaves’ 9.95 led the rotation. Sophomore Alex Irvine added a 9.875, while senior Sophia Groth scored a 9.775. Freshman Marissa Neal made her bars debut with a 9.75, and senior Caroline Leonard contributed a 9.725.

The Tigers carried momentum into vault, with two gymnasts posting season-best scores. Sophomore Julianne Huff and senior Sara Hubbard each landed a stuck Yurchenko 1.5 for 9.9s. Sophomore Paige Zancan followed with a 9.875, while freshman Sophia Bell and senior Sydney Schumaker each posted 9.8s.

Auburn delivered strong performances in its final two rotations. The Tigers posted their third-highest floor score of the season with a 49.400. Bell, a Missouri native, tied her career high with a 9.925. McLaughlin added a 9.9, while Zancan scored a 9.875. Groth and freshman Olivia Ahern each earned 9.85s.

Auburn closed the meet with another 49.400 on beam, led by McLaughlin’s 9.975. Zancan tied her career best with a 9.925, while Neal contributed a 9.875. Greaves earned a 9.825, and both Groth and Ahern posted 9.8s.

Auburn concludes its regular season at home against No. 2 LSU on Friday, March 14 at Neville Arena. The meet is set for 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast SEC Network+.
